Guidelines for Running a Comedic Game

  1. Simple Rules (minimal look-up during play)
  2. Simple Concept
  3. Simple Characters (archetypes)
  4. Opposing Character Goals
  5. Player Investment (they must know that their characters have an effect on the world)
  6. Create a funny situation for the players to react to, with humor
  7. Set-up a “Straight Man” as a punchline for the jokes
  8. Players have to be ready for their characters to fail, and to laugh about it. This can be helped by setting their expections at the beginning of the game.
