In which Jeb and Steve discuss Steve’s Whiny Complaint of the week, centered on an obvious plot oversight in Megamind. In which Steve discusses genetics with John: some fascinating facts that could be great material for story telling, how genetics are portrayed in popular media, and even how genetics could be handled in a fantasy settings.
If I did the configuration and fiddling right, then this update will also be posted as a link to the Facebook community page for PftDCast. My goal is to integrate the website, http://postcards-from-the-dungeon.com, and Facebook so that each new episode will be posted to both.

In which Jeb and Steve discuss the challenge of being a green GM and how to improve and generate meaningful feedback. Then they go on to discuss the movie “Captain America, The First Avenger.”
Spoiler Alert! This episode contains many, detailed, spoilers for the movie. If you haven’t seen “Captain America: The First Avenger” (2011), then you should go and see that before coming back and listening to this. Thank you! Spoiler Alert!
In which Jim and Steve discuss gaming with very small groups, even one-on-one and the related topic of gaming with a large group, but pulling people out for a little one-on-one to handle a specific character’s arc before they rejoin the full group. Then we discuss pacifism in RPG, both on the part of PC’s and as an aspect of the campaign.
In which Steve and a Professor of History discuss what history can teach us, and what special insights can be learned by contemplating “Counterfactuals” (i.e. possible alternate histories). We discuss different models for historical causality, or what the professionals refer to as “human agency.” How much does any particular human decision drive history? Is history just the result of large, impersonal forces? Or, is there a hybrid model where large forces drive periods of history and limit what sets of choices are available, but certain decision points appear in which an individual can turn the current?
Note: I have to apologize for some of the background noises in this recording. They were on my side of the mic and due to the way I record phone calls, I was not able to separate the tracks and edit them out. I hope they are not overly distracting, especially as the Professor has some fascinating things to say while something in the room with me was beeping away!
In which Jeb and Steve discuss the current movie “Super 8″ and how it harkened back to the youths-have-an-adventure movies of their own youth, the 70′s and 80′s!
